  I remember the BBS Sysop and User Gatherings in central Arkansas in the
early 90's. Sysops of Adult BBS's "carded" prospective users, and one got
to put faces to names...and in most cases, the mental image you had made
of them was NOT at all like that in person!! <G>

  One funny thing I remember is that at one gathering, we were at an area
Denny's Restaurant (which long since closed down, the building was razed)
when this one Sysop (he's dead and gone now, and his BBS is long gone), 
put this case on the table and took a fancy new laptop out of it, and
started working with it. Like a magnet, all eyes gravitated to his table,
and it was like a collective "WOW!!" emanated from the crowd. <G> 

  I have a bulletin online of long gone BBS's...and I remember logging on
to several of them. All of them were dial-up only back then. There is also
only one Denny's left in the Little Rock Metro area.

  As the song "The Way We Were" (done by Barbara Streisand) noted, it's
the good memories we hang onto.
