I am convinced now that 90% of them are indeed aimed at MP> the hypochrondriacs (SP?) among us. :) First, you spelled it right. Second, that reminds me of an instance on a ham radio packet net (one of the digital modes available) years ago. For many new ham radio operators, mic fright is a very real threat. But, with the digital modes, you computer does all the work for you. I had just gotten a new vanity callsign (my previous callsign, WX1DER, which I got the day after Arkansas got a foot of snow (Christmas, 2012)... but I changed to WX4QZ on my 59th birthday in 2019. Since ham radio licenses are only good for 10 years, my license will expire when I turn 69 -- and no snide remarks from the peanut gallery. For the record, packet is where you use your computer and a terminal program, and just type stuff at your keyboard. The program transmits your callsign for you, to satisfy the FCC Rules. Anyway, this one other ham radio operator, Ed, KI0HQ, wanted the callsign K0ED, but a ham in California had it already. Ed typed "I'm married, and E.D. is not an issue". The Net Control for the net was Billie Higgs, KB0WSA. Her husband, K.O., the Sysop of the Packet BBS, held the callsign N0KFQ. The net was done in a roundtable format every Monday night. Billie turned it over to an older ham, Roger, KB0SON. He thought E.D. stood for "electronic doofus". Now, *I* can relate to that, as electronics was never my forte'. I can tell you the colors on a resistor, thanks to "Violet" , and that not even an amp of electricity can kill you. Yet, I'm chuckling after Roger's comments. As a side note, the resistor colors are determined from the saying "Bad Boys Ravish (Rape) Our Young Girls...But Violet Gives Willingly". :P The first letter of each of those words is the first letter of the color on an electronics resistor. In a college electronics class, that had both males and females, the professor wasn't about to say what BBROYGBVGW meant. The women were dying to know, so they asked a fellow male student after class. When told, after laughing, they said "That's a great way to remember it!!". One of the female students was grinning wryly...when they asked her what her problem was, she replied "I'm Violet". Back to the net...it gets over to K.O., and all he typed was "I'm curious to see how Ed is going to explain E.D. to Roger". I'm busting a gut in laughter by now!! It gets back to Ed, and he types "Billie?? Do you know Morse Code??". She types back "Yes, and I know a lot of other things as well!!" I let out this scream, and I'm about to pee on myself at this point, in tears from laughter...as Ed types "erecticle dysfunction" in Morse Code!! Billie passed away 3 years ago, and 2 years later, K.O. passed away. But, about a year after her death, we were reflecting on the memories on a net, and I recapped what happened. K.O. typed "It was so refreshing to hear that again, and it happened EXACTLY the way Daryl told it!!" . I did get to meet both of them before they passed away...a real sweet elderly couple, who lived in Branson, Missouri. With the passing of Billie and K.O., Bob, NS2B, took over the net from his BBS in Penfield, New York. It features RF and telnet access, and both Bob and myself alternate as Net Controls each week...and I am the weekly scribe for the net. Daryl, WX4QZ ....
