My mom was an office manager for years. There wasn't much wining and dining 
for the staff, but lots of free samples to get the doctors to prescribe them 
to patients.

And preying on people's use of search engines and hypochondria. Doc, I saw a 
commercial, and I have all of the symptoms they described. I must have XXX 
and need drug XXX!

I'm more concerned about companies raising the prices on existing drugs 
whose R&D is already paid for, like insulin. Companies have the right to be 
compensated for development of drug formulations, but at a certain point a 
drug price needs to stabilize - especially a life-sustaining drug like 
insulin.

The doctor who formulated it refused to put his name on a patent for a drug 
that was needed to save lives, and instead his co-founders sold the patent 
for $1.
