Subj : CD->MP3 project To : Nelgin From : August Abolins Date : Fri Jan 01 2021 18:48:00 Hello Nelgin! ** On Thursday 31.12.20 - 20:48, Nelgin wrote to August Abolins: aa>> I considered the same CD->MP3 project too, until I aa>> calculated just how much time it would take and the extra aa>> HDD/SDD expense (and the resources for backups) that it aa>> would require to store the rips of over 2000 CDs N> Just use something like Soulseek and download them rather N> than rip them. I looked into Soulseek. I don't think it's for me. Sounds like users can block other users too easily and impose arbitrary upload requirements. I used to use WinMX (over dialup internet!). It had a beautiful dark blue UI and many features. It also permitted blocking certain users, but generally I found everything I wanted 95% of the time, and no one bothered anyone unnecessarily. I was in mp3 withdrawal when WinMX got infiltrated by fakes, honeypots and punks intended to make things difficult. Spotify is a much easier route, and there is no guilty conscience. A bonus with SPotify is that it does a really good job in new recommendations. I've discovered some wonderful tunes. It is confirmation that my music tastes are pretty good! ;) I also scout for music releases that are briefly made public and available for download by an artist or producer directly. Those I can make portable much easier and add to my devices or make into a playable disc. -- ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.48 * Origin: (} Pointy McPointface (618:250/1.9) .
