The /N switch is node number, period.  Any documentation that says otherwise 
is wrong and needs to be corrected.

The NOVIRTUAL option is specified by adding novirtual to the door command 
line. The rundoor.sh script sees this parameter on the command line and 
selects an alternate dosemu.conf which does not specify the comport in virtual 
mode.
