The FG seemed to be off to a good start and showed a fine promise to be much much better than the Snooze. But then it petered out fairly quickly. For me, the addition of recipes is what finally clinched the deal to drop it. And the one-sided political commentary is not a good fit for a FTN- community newsletter. SD> I thought of doing my own newsletter again but Fidonet SD> isn't worth it anymore. ..The Micronet Times. :D It's a very good opportunity to present something that the FG and FN are not. You could demonstrate your vision of what a newsletter ought to be. I don't know what your ideas for content would be, but in addition to supporting submissions from readers, you could single-handedly provide a sections for "Best of echomail this week" to highlight an interesting/ funny topic that is surfacing elsewhere on an othernet, or a book review related to tech/computers, or a "The Rest of the story.." section that fills in the gaps that FTN history has left out or forgotten, "New Ascii art for the week", oooh.. there is so much possible. You don't have to duplicate the Software Lists or file source lists, but could have something that those lists lack. More people would be inclined to read a newsletter of the community it represents than hunting and waiting for conversations to pop up in echomail. The newsletter could help spawn the conversations that people are waiting for. ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.44 * Origin: my little micronet point (618:510/1.1) .
