At home its hot-imaging live systems to encrypted external hardrives that are in a set that rotates every Friday night with one drive kept off-site. Before that it was LTO2... before that it was Dat72... never had a loss of anything, ever in 2 decades. There have been a few shit drives here that died over the years but restoring backups here is as easy as booting from recovery media to restore the image. There is no reinstalling OS's or software or any of that crap. The image is restored perfectly. If I had to restore to different hardware or a VM or whatever, that can be done too. I'm not really a fan of cloud backups because of the sheer amount of data transfer that would be involved with my setup and the fact that hard drives are so cheap now... Ovh backup plans do work but pretty sure its for a cluster of VM's or companies who do not mind spending for it. But I too have seen many Sysops lose everything. I don't understand it.
