I could have uptime like that if it wasn't for Californias wonderous PSPS and 
constant power issues. 
Im looking to do a small wind turbine and some solar panels +battery to 
correct this horrible crap. I just need to keep the internet hot and some low 
power machines. For the fridge I have a generator that would drain this setup 
in a manner of minutes This is just going to be a small DC-DC setup since my
internet and pc's can run 12vdc direct. DIY tip, if you set something like 
this up for yourself spend the extra money on a quality charge controller. The
rest of the stuff isn't important unless you add an inverter in to get AC. 
                                                      
The windmill im building is very basic its a bridged rectifier hooked to a 
john deere tractor alternator I grabbed it because its 80bucks and operates on
permenent magnets instead of field windings. This will reduce drag and let it 
spin in low wind conditions when the batterys call for charge. It max is 
20amps but in this aplication it will be producing less then an amp in most
cases since i need a 2 to 1 ratio in order to ever see any type of production.

The solar is what im banking on nice sunny day will push around 2000 watts so
in the dead of winter the most overcast day I will still get at least 100 
watts. Thats plenty to run what I need and with 3 deep cycle batterys I could 
run almost a two days with no sun and no wind at all.
