I've been running my RG board, almost unchanged since '94. Thats 28 years of running the same software. Yes I have dialup callers in addition to telnet. Years of running a board that works. Doesn't need screwing around or updates. The dialup line ends up costing me next to nothing since its part of the fiber ISP plan and one type of part-time IT gig I have essentially pays for everything... no out of pocket expense for any tech stuff here, not even for the tons I spent on Microsoft and Vmware licensing. Some guy and a few of his buddies apparently belong to some weird calling plan and pieced together a couple of throwaway Thinkpads to call here from Kitchener/Guelph area... one was testing dialup over Voip lines. So now they end up calling here on a somewhat regular basis. LORD knows no limits. At one time a few years ago I had the Toronto OSDP non-profit connecting here at 9600bps from an old PC running Wildcrap and ViaMail. Called here like clockwork several times a day to grab their Fido mail. Getting all these things to work and seeing someone else enjoy them is "k-rad l33t badass" to me than someone's unoriginal SBBS/Mystic board in a VM. M> i think you're just very stubborn and a bit close minded. Well duhhhhhhh.... 100% correct my friend. My stubbornness has earned me dedicated loyal users and the trust of many other Sysops for their net mail. Not sure about the close-minded part, my website clearly shows the opposite. I made some cool friends along the way that I trade banter with via Netmail almost daily... for years now. I'm in it for friends, not here to compare penises. If you want to talk tech thats cool but please don't waste time with Captain Obvious nonsense. Atreyu --- Renegade vY2Ka2 * Origin: Joey, do you like movies about gladiators? (25:25/5) .
