I like Talisman/Magicka, but if you use one of those I encourage you to try to
get all the features out of the box for the user; make sure users can scan for
new messages instead of just read whatever messages, make sure they can set a
message pointer date, and make sure they can set scan areas.

The author (apam) is a great guy and seems willing to communicate with people
about his software.
