Their router's ports are the suck. Perfectly good > KM> known-working network cable, wouldn't speak to it. Ethernet Adapter, ASIN > B08T5YDK49 (Amazon). I got one a while back because one of the clips > in the port was missing and didn't realize it until past return. KM> Oh, the purpose of that is to have something between that wears KM> out instead of wearing out your ethernet port, should you need to KM> plug and unplug the cable a lot (motherboard ports are usually KM> rated for about a thousand plug-and-unplugs, but the ports often KM> break off long before that). It's not going to improve their KM> port's seating any. Makes sense to wear out a throw-away part rather than the computer. In my case the port of the plug-in device was damaged and the Ethernet Adapter fixed the problem. KM> I use the same strategy (a short cable that dangles from the KM> port) with USB ports that are difficult to reach, and so I don't KM> have to be constantly plugging into the motherboard's port. I try to remember to plug all the cables in before shoving the computer back in position! More to your short cable thing, I've done that with some headless computers around here for their video. I don't need a monitor plugged in as 99% of the time they are behaving and/or I can remote in. The other percentage I need a monitor to see what is going on. Short video extension cable -- I can either plug in the workbench monitor or extend to one over here at the desk. S.N.: Two of the headless computer now have small 4.3" monitors semi- permanently plugged in to the extension cable so I can see when a block comes up for update notifications, etc. Too tiny to read/click on the radio buttons, so remote in. ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
