I'd agree: short clips/files like that shouldn't fill a cache and dump FIFO. I could see something like "after editing five or six short clips I loose my shortcuts". Hey, here's something I remembered from when you typed "once I apply one effect, regardless of which one". Years ago I had a communications utilty and every time I did a specific option (forgot which one) the utilty froze. Didn't need the option all the time. Re-install the utility, all was fine - until next time. Eventually found the problem was a specific file was being altered so just re-install that one file (umm, this was from floppy!). Eventually renamed the file on the hard drive to 'hold the place', re-installed the one file (so to a different spot on the hard drive because the original file was holding its original position), and all was fine, never needed to re-install. OK, so finding that being-altered file might be a near-impossibility now, so maybe rename the original utility to hold all the spots and re-install?
