I've used GIMP a few times over the years; I rarely have a need to alter pictures, etc. As for the adjusting of the cache size, I don't recall doing it here. From notes I have spinning around on the hard drive when the cache is discarded so is the information so makes sense Mike's (think it's him) would loose the shortcuts. More RAM would help, though of course may not be possible. Having swapiness turned off can create problems.
