Actually it's the same thread!!  The original one (my quote) thought it 
was a Raspbery Pi OS issue, they found it was an upstream Ubuntu/Linux
issue and moved it to the one you quoted.  ...Though on second thought 
would seem to make more sense to ask in some forum like Ask Ubuntu, 
Spiceworks, etc,

Ughck!  ...At this point I have extra back up SD cards so I can swap out
quickly (and copy the spare spare to the card I just screwed up).  Also 
turned off the update notifications in the Launcher bar -- yesterday 
morning I absent-mindedly clicked the Updates Icon and almost 
immediately uttered a nasty word.

I haven't taken the time to look at it but I think it is more for 
keeping the data to connect to an Access Point: SSID, password, that 
sort of thing.  I think what I need to do is hold back the package
updates (apt-hold) like I do with MythTV.

My Scottish Guy isn't too happy with that answer! <g>  At this point 
I'll try to remember not to do updates for the two Pi's and see if I can
figure out what to hold back.
