Subj : IR Light Question To : All From : Barry Martin Date : Thu Aug 14 2025 15:23:00 Hi Folks! Have a couple of cameras with Infrared capabilities for night/low light viewing. Guess worked OK: I have the cameras inside looking out their windowd and the built-in IR LEDs reflected in the window pane and effectively blinded the camera. Electrical tape over the built-in IR LEDs, so yes, a replacement IR source installed. Camera is separated from the IR light by ~6 feet, so no reflection. Also no IR image. The IR Light is supposed to have a distance of 20 m, so ~60 feet. I don't see any difference; I did go outside to test by putting myself well within the camera's detection area -- nothing. AFAICT the light is working: I have one of those IR detection strips (for testing remote controls) - glowed. So any idea what to do? Putting everything outside creates another set of problems. Half-wondering if the window glass is causing the problem: has a "UV Block" which does work -- charging via solar panels inside does not work. I know UV and IR are on opposite ends of the visible light spectrum, but maybe this "UV Block" stuff takes out more than just UV?? Thanks! ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® .... Made huge ToDo List today; just can't figure out who's going to do it. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.47 þ wcECHO 4.2 ÷ ILink: The Safe BBS þ Bettendorf, IA --- QScan/PCB v1.20a / 01-0462 * Origin: ILink: CFBBS | cfbbs.no-ip.com (454:1/1) .
