Subj : Flickering Power LED To : Ky Moffet From : Barry Martin Date : Tue May 14 2024 07:33:00 Hi Ky! > Have a blue power LED which has started to randomly flicker. Several days > ago I noticed it was occasionally dimming rapidly and randomly; past > couple of days a definite flicker and lst night and this morning it if > off for random times. The random flickering reminds me of a HDD > Activity LED but that one seems to be working normally. KM> It sounds like the LED itself is failing. OK, but odd. I've never had a LED half-fail like that: an all-or-none situation. Can get them to dim by applying a little too much or a little too little voltage. (For the others reading, I've been an electronics hobbyist since Dad taking me there to test tubes because I was too young to drive.) KM> Had similar with a light bulb that went. For about a year it KM> would randomly blink a few times a day. Then it got dim and KM> flickery. Replaced bulb, end of problem. This one probably won't get replaced as part of the front panel assembly and good luck getting those apartment and better luch reassembling! KM> The power LED doesn't monitor anything, it's just on or off when KM> the power is. OK right. Simple circuit is power source, pulldown resistor, on/off switch, LED. More complicated circuit is attached to some mystery circuit. ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
