Subj : Flickering Power LED To : All From : Barry Martin Date : Sun May 12 2024 07:11:00 Hi Folks! Have a blue power LED which has started to randomly flicker. Several days ago I noticed it was occasionally dimming rapidly and randomly; past couple of days a definite flicker and lst night and this morning it if off for random times. The random flickering reminds me of a HDD Activity LED but that one seems to be working normally. This morning I plugged: a USB voltmeter: usually a 4.94v but occasionally briefly dips to 4.93 and rises to 4.95v. AFAIK that variation is normal. ...LED is finally staying off and the voltmeter reading 4.94 volts -- of course I don't know if the PSU output for the Power LED and USB port are the same -- probably not. Suppose I should also mention this is on a computer I built a year or two ago. Motherboard is Asus M5A97 R2.0. No idea what the PSU is but would be a decent brand and power capability. So the question is is this something to be concerned with, as in indicating an upcoming failure (and of probably what - power from the PSU but the motherboard control this little light). Unit is headless, so I'll probably add a small monitoring LED into a USB port so I can tell at a glance if the unit is powered. TIA! ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
