And even if have a backup might cause a bunch of problems because not 
located on the hard drive where expected, doesn't have the full links, 
etc.

Thought as I recall they did say they were warming of pulling the plug 
for over a decade.  Which of course if I heard that after about three 
times I'd go "I'll believe it when it happens".  To me the problem is 
Adobe pulling the plug with no replacement available.  IMO bad enough to
get people to do a major upgrade, but they saying "we're pulling the 
plug _and_ killing it off, do without for a while, or with a 
competitor's product, then come back when we're ready".  IMO a _major_ 
marketing error.

Running Linux on this end and not sure I can do that.  Do have a few 
..SWF files so tested.  Wanted to open with Videos (Totem) but error says
missing x-shockwave shock decoder, which it couldn't find.  And I'll 
append that with 'automatically'; probably out there, just not in the 
usual repositories.
