My ADHH takes BM> the form of But Firsts: but first I have to do this.... And yes, there BM> are all those interesting items beckoning one's interest! Not BM> necessarily bad to be distracted, just does tend to make the primary BM> project take longer. DS> I know what you mean seems like I work all day to get one thing DS> done my mind is all over the place some days! Eventually I get DS> there but sure wears you out in the process! Agree: sometimes 'valid' as "looks interesting" and sometimes just "I'm not sure what to look for to fix the problem" and so takes all day to figure out.. BM> Has been a while since I played with a RPi Media Player -- think BM> OMXPlayer - something close - and it required a couple of switches to BM> display properly. DS> I was playing around with Kodi on the pi a while back trying to DS> see if I could put together a simple little media streamer but I DS> really didn't like it. After a while I just gave up and resolved DS> to either get some Roku devices or some Amazon Fire sticks to DS> replace Dish as soon as contract expires I played with Kodi some time back (couple/few years ago) and also wasn't liking it -- either too much and so too confusing or didn't do what I wanted. BTW, for infrared (IR) controlling appears the RPi 4 is missing LIRC -- not sure as fiddling with a project here and by the time I figured out what possibly to do ran out of time. I found https://www.instructables.com/id/Easy-Setup-IR-Remote-Control-Using-LIRC -for-the-Ra/ seems to have the answer. And we probably should move this thread as not really on-topic for Ham radio. I'll let it be your choice for where as I received and pretty sure have selected all conferences. Electronics? Could rename one that hasn't been used in ages and piddle off the other SysOps!
