WORLD OF DX

In the world of DX, Bill, K9HZ, will be using the call sign J68HZ, from
St. Lucia, from August 23rd to October 4th. Be listening on 160-2 meters,
where he will be using CW, SSB, AM, RTTY, and FT8. QSL direct to his
home callsign. He prefers LoTW, but accepts ClubLog and eQSL.

Han, DS2GOO, is on the air as DS2GOO/3, from Sapshi Island, between
August 24th and 26th. Activity will be holiday style during his family
vacation. QSL direct to his home callsign.

Listen for Randy, K5SL, using the call sign PJ4/K5SL, from Bonaire. He
will be on the air between September 7th and 14th. Find him on 40/30/20/17
meters, using mainly CW, but possibly some 17 meters SSB. QSL directly to
his home callsign.

KICKER: ON-AIR WEDDING MAKES RADIO WAVES

PAUL/ANCHOR: We end this week's report with the story of a wedding that
made waves - radio waves - and who better than Mike Askins, KE5CXP, to
tell it?

MIKE: So you've got your amateur radio license, and you recently got your
marriage license, too. So what's next? It's time for you and your beloved
to turn one lucky amateur radio band into a wedding band. That's what
Rose Vasquez, KM6PRC, and Marty Lloyd, KM6PRA, did on Saturday, the 17th
of August, exchanging vows in what is believed to be the first amateur
radio wedding ceremony transmitted over the air.

It was, in every sense of the word, a multi-op event. 

The wedding processional was conducted in CW by the maestro of the keyer
Chip Margelli, K7JA. George Jacob, N6VNI, gave the bride away. Bill
Lovelace, K6MET, officiated with his dog, Hank, as ring-bearer, and
Robert Ferrero, W6KR, owner of the Anaheim, California Ham Radio Outlet,
hosted. Staffers assisted Janet Margelli KL7MF, store manager, in turning
the venue from a chapel of radio retail into a chapel of love. Following
the exchange of vows, Bill, W1HIJ, served as "master of arms," cueing
staff members to raise their HTs high in the air so the newlyweds could
promenade beneath. 

It goes without saying that many of the guests were also hams, some
attending remotely via livecasting on social media. According to HRO's
social media manager Katie Allen, WY7YL, it all added up to one big
amateur radio "first."

Now if the happy couple wants a certificate for Worked All States, they
can easily add one more: The State of Wedded Bliss.
