  That sucked. Then, I had to pay my Mom's income tax, and the hotel
bill. It was a good thing I had some money from the Miller Trust, that I
had to set aside as her Power Of Attorney (and eventual executor to her
estate), as I didn't have $3000 lying around for the cost of those.
Then, the insurance company dawdled around, but while they paid for
$5000 for a new electric meter and inside panel (replacing the original
ones that were on the house when it was built 46 years ago), I still had
to pay for the protection and the permits. What I got back paid the
water and trash bill this month.

  My niches are nets and doing license exams. I have to make time to
print new General Class exam books before my next exam session in early
August.

  Life would sure be boring if everything was the same.

  So many of the hams on nets are what I call "Hi, Bye, and QSY". They
think checking into a net is the MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE, but to
me, that should be the least of ones worries.

  "Net Control, Please copy [callsign], [name], [location], [county],
[grid square]. Short Time, No Traffic". Not 2 minutes later, they're
doing the same thing on another net...and repeating it through the
evening. Don't they have a life outside of ham radio??

  I do like a good QSO, and the nets I do. On a packet net last night
(that PCL Net I told you about), one station was late, because he heard
a brand new ham on the air, and he wanted to be "his first contact". We
had no problem with that.
