  I didn't participate it all. I was "on vacation" (not the one I
wanted), staying at an area motel for 10 days, due to a loss of power
and air conditioning here, from severe storm damage (you probably saw
the pictures on Facebook). I had to CANCEL the planned train trip to
Albuquerque in September, due to funding issues.

  Contesting never did appeal to me, either...but there's something in
the hobby for everybody.

  Even more so, many think that "seeing how many ham radio nets they can
check into in a day" is the most important thing in life. Ham Radio is a
HOBBY, but these consider it an OBSESSION.
