Subj : Wednesday Ham Radio Nets To : JIMMY ANDERSON From : Daryl Stout Date : Sun May 05 2019 12:37:00 Jimmy, JA>Okay - if I somehow find myself in the Windows world again I'll check JA>on that! I don't know if a telnet client for Mac would work or not...but you can also access it via your web browser. Go to ftp://tbolt.synchro.net and go to the D-Rats Shared Files Area. Look for the file on "The PCL Net" fore details. JA>Since upgrading laptops and moving to MAC OS 10.14 Mojave, my CHIRP JA>will not talk to my mobile rig, so yesterday I d/l Ubuntu and installed JA>it there. I've been stuck in the house with high fever and strep throat, JA>so I've not tried it yet... First, get yourself better...you can worry about the BBS and everything else later. Second, I've got 2 urological procedures coming up the week of Hamvention (so I obviously can't go -- never mind not having the money to go). If I can get into some good financial benefit, I'd love to take Amtrak to the Duke City Hamfest in September in Albuquerque. If I can't do that, I may look at Amtrak to Spokane Washington in June, 2020...for the National Square Dance Convention. It's normally on Field Day Weekend, but with the big "Hoopfest" in Spokane that weekend, "The World's Largest Square Dance Event" is a week earlier, for 2020 only. I'd dance Thursday and Friday, then fellowship with area hams on Saturday. I've mapped out possible itineraries for both...dreaming is free, but reality is a whole different matter. Medical wise, the first is the second Low-T implant...this time in the left butt cheek (it alternates each time, done 4-5 months apart). The numbing and burning of the anesthetic is a real PITA...pun intended. But, Low-T, left untreated, can lead to a whole host of other "male problems"...but it's part of "growing old". I was on a ham radio packet net several years ago, with this one session affectionately described as "The E.D. Net". An elderly ham thought it stood for "Electronic Doofus" (I can relate to that!!). The comments of the Sysop and his XYL (Net Control), were absolutely priceless!! You can download that file from my D-Rats Shared File area...or FTP to tbolt.synchro.net -- note that with a potential significant threat of both severe weather and flooding this week, the BBS will likely be down much of the upcoming week. Back to the medical items, the second is a flexoscopy up the penis and urethra into the bladder while I'm awake (they better give me a ton of numbing gel beforehand). Something suspicious was on the ultrasound, looking like a 9 millimeter bladder stone, which won't pass on its own...having to be removed surgically. But, when they went in last time, they didn't see anything. The urologist wants to look in there, and see if it's diverticula (a pouch, similar to what I already have in the colon), or a stone...and then to discuss surgery and hospitalization, if needed. JA>... I'm not insensitive, I'm male. See the difference? But, like a Type A Male, there were many times I didn't listen to my late XYL -- she got me fat on salted crow and humble pie. Hard to believe it has been 12 years since she passed away.
