Subj : APRS Weather Stations? To : David Smith From : Barry Martin Date : Tue May 19 2020 16:13:00 Hi Dave! Update information... BM> Most do. Check www.lirc.org -- scroll down for the link to the BM> BTW, it appears connecting the IR detector to an RPi 3 and to an RPi4 BM> are different. The GPIO pins are the same, maybe the firmware changed?? BM> I can give links if you want them. BJM: While I think of it "be careful" with LIRC and the Raspberry 4 or maybe BJM: Buster and so all the Raspberry Pi's. (My current project sort of BJM: requires the RPi4 so "don't care" about 3, 2, etc.) Anyway, appears BJM: something is broken between LIRC and Buster: OK, the good news is for me LIRC and IREXEC aren't broken but the instructions I was following needed to be updated. The 'start" wasn't correct: it needed to talk to IREXEC but was trying to talk to with the remote's key assignment stuff. The correction is: /etc/lirc/irexec.lircrc begin prog = irexec button = KEY_C config = echo pswd | su -l pi -c /home/pi/Load_MythFE.sh end "KEY_C" is the yellow button on my remote. Can be any key as long as not assigned in elsewhere. pswd = password for that Raspberry Pi pi = username for that Raspberry Pi The sh script is what needs to be loaded to get what you want the button to start up, in my case to load the Myth Front End.
