Turned > off the sound - much better! On a lot of our dumb terminals, IIRC the clicking could be silenced. We had to go around sometimes and check to make sure they were working properly. If I found one that would click I would turn it off. I am pretty sure there were some students that would leave the edge of a book sitting on the space bar or another key so that the terminals would sit and beep continously.
