Found that out when doing a what is EV> my IP type EV> of checkafter getting the phone. From what I have read the various 'landline' companies are trying to get out of the business as not all that profitable. To do that they sort of give lousy service: the phone service itself and physical support. Another problem is mechical: a lot of their hardware is outside, subject to Mother Nature's stresses, and so stuff breaks. What's 'funny' -- and I don't know how accurate it is now -- but some consumer and probably business hardware requires a landline. Used to be some alarms (burgular, fire, that type) required a landline to work. We stuck with the copper landline for years after 'could have changed' because of the telephone number: we both had older parents and other relatives who weren't quite capable of recalling a new number in the event of an emergency. The problem wasn't so much the landline number could be assigned to one of our cell phones but more it could only be assigned to one. ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
