EV> Called AT&T, their tech said go to fiber I did, fiber never EV> worked so EV> cancelledfiber. I thought of something odd: some time back I had a system running XP (may have been 64 bit) and on DSL. Came home from work one day and that computer would not connect to the Web yet the others would. (I don't recall what those computers were running.) Testing I found something weird: if the XP computer was plugged in to the 10/100/1000 Hub it would not connect to the outside world but if plugged into the DSL's 'Gateway' (modem/router) it would. The gateway was 10/100. So it seemed something happened to make the 1000 Mbps not work on the computer. So if the NIC port on your XP has 10/100/1000 capabilities and it is plugged into a hub or switch capable of 1000 Mbps maybe try moving it to a hub/switch with a maximum of 100 Mbps and see what happens. ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
