Subj : Bluetooth Keyboard To : Ed Vance From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Sep 02 2024 07:06:00 Hi Ed! > Minor correction: you probably tuned in the FM band; a television's audio > signal was FM. One could listed to Channel 6 on a regular FM radio if > the radio could be tuned a smidgen past the low end at 88 MHz. > If the reels were stored properly you might have pieces of history! > Magnetic media is the archival media of choice for data. EV> Maybe I had the Mode Knob set to FM instead of AM. EV> It has been almost 60 years since making those recordings and EV> can't remember. They reason I picked up that error was knowing and practical experience with being able to receive the local Channel 6 audio on FM radios. Well, that and hobbyist electronics! EV> Now the next thing I am going to do is go look at that radio to EV> see if there EV> isa FM setting on the Mode Switch. EV> the SX-42 tunes from 530 Kc/s to 108 Mc/s . EV> Ain't turned it On in ages. Almost would place a bet there is an AM setting too! ...I keep running though semi-technical stuff" "AM is audio modulation. ...FM frequency modulation" but to explain that is too long, especially without visuals. If you decide to turn on the set be cautious: stuff deteriorates over time. I'd sort of do a quick visual check: cord in decent condition and not cracked or damaged. Nothing growing inside. Put on something not easily damaged and fire resistant -- so not on the dining room table with the tablecloth!! Plug in to an outlet separate from lighting, or at least have a some back-up lighting on: sunlight is fine, light on a different circuit fine -- thinking if the circuit breaker trips. Flashlight -- ergh. Thinking might be too excited/scared if the unit 'blows up' to reach for the flashlight, turn it on, not fumble and drop it.... After all that, I do hope it works! Woudl be fun to explore the DX radio world! ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® .... Fishing 101: Get in raft.
