Subj : Learned something new to To : Ed Vance From : Barry Martin Date : Sat Jul 27 2024 07:18:00 Hi Ed! > Barry, The monitor the desktop computer uses is 19" . > The screen on this phone is tiny, which I have much difficulty with. > (You do see that I 'm blaming the phone, not My Head) > I thought not getting the smaller phone(s) the store had on their shelf but > getting the 6 inch long phone would do better for me. > Maybe I should have got a 12 inch Tablet. > Ed EV> When I said 6 inch phone , that is the diagonal measurement, 5 EV> 1/2 X 2 5/8 inches is what my ruler shows. Correct: screen measurements are measured diagonally. ...We sort of always do a compromise between a large screen and portability. EV> In another of Your post I used WAN, Wide Area Network, without EV> looking at the back of my Router I believe that the output Jack EV> is called WAN . To me the four input jacks is where my EV> computer(s) Local Area Network goes. If weverything is working except the phone for now you have it connected properly. :) There has always been some confusion in the industry as to what is 'in' and what is 'out'. Tangent example: with an amplifier the 'Phono' port could be in or out: it's the input for the turntable but also takes the output from the turntable. All depends on the engineering departartment's point of view. As for computers I've generally found it's from the user to the 'data source'. My output is connected to the next device's input; that device's output goes to the next device's input. EV> You mention BT 6 is coming soon. EV> I've read BT 5 has a greater range than v4 (v4 is the BT version EV> my phone has). More to remind of compatability issues. When purchasing make sure the potential new device has whatever protocol you need for your current devices. I tend to 'buy for the future', so the new device is latest and greatest (up to a point!) but sometimes the new device will drop an old protocol; would make the new device not work for what I want. ....That mess of a paragraph is more as a reminder to check the details. EV> Appreciate your mention of Amazon and eBay, me not having a EV> national Credit Card I have bought Amazon Gift Cards when I have EV> made orders through them. A neighbor heard me say I wanted a EV> SyQuest EzFlyer230 HDD and saw one on eBay, he told me he could EV> get it for me and I could reimburse him when he got it. (I wanted EV> that drive bcuz I had a bunch of EZ-135 cartridges I made on a EV> 486pc but the EZ-135 drive didn't work anymore). Nice neighbour! Actually I mentioned Amazon and eBay only as reasonably decent references. Sort of like flipping though the Sears Catalogue and then buying locally at Hank's General Store. ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
