I don't recall how I found out about null modem cables -- simple enough to do: cross RX to TX and vice-versa (the receive and transmit wiring), connect the ground pins, ...seems like there were two or three more pins to connect. You or anyone interested look up 'null modem cable', can add 'pinout to the end. Had to use Kermit as the communication as protocol as that was the only one common to both system. Only problem was every so often a teeny-tiny configuration option would either get missed or not set: word vs. byte. "Oddly" if not matching would work, just would take forever: overnight to transfer 400 Kb! (The DEC Rainbow 100 used a 5¬" single-sided floppy but "RX50 format": 400 Kb capacity instead of IBM's 360 Kb.) EV> I couldn't see that Capital I with all those Exclamation Marks EV> alongside it Was only two!! (Notice me being a bit of a smart-rump with the two exclamation points!) EV> Must be a problem with old age and this 6 point something sized EV> screen I'm tapping on. That was one reason why when years ago I updated so a smart phone I got one with a large screen: knew I'd be annoyed by having to put on reading glasses just to deblurr the screen. EV> Thanks for the explanation showing the lower case i , You know EV> that "Ed's Head"(C) TM has constant problem. It sort of reminded me of the joke about the mother not knowing what "LOL" meant in texts so her son told her it meant "Lots Of Love". ....That worked until she texted about someone's funeral: ...I'm not recalling the punch lines but something like "he will be missed LOL". ¯ ® ¯ BarryMartin3@MyMetronet.NET ® ¯ ® ....
