The 'problem' with most cables is they have a relatively large 'box' on 
the end: sort of required as connecting the wires and end-to-end rarely 
works.  The 'box' gets caught, snagging the useful live wires.  
Telephone cables generally have that little sticky-out clip to ensure 
snagging!
