BM> Yup: we've had it rain on one hill here and not a drop on the next BM> hill. Literally 'spotty showers'! That's also like damage from storms...one side of the street is "blown away" (no pun intended), and the other side of the street is untouched. BM> Probably/possibly so. I have no idea as to what incident you are BM> referring so a cautionary response. News reports will be incendiary -- BM> "if it bleeds it leads" -- so while a bit of the incident is true the BM> full context makes it false. For instance I once beat a dog with a BM> bike tire (it was off the rim). OMG I'm an evil person! The whole BM> story is my dog and a friend's dog got into a fight -- not a quick snap BM> but drawn-out fangs-bared, biting, etc. Us kids were trying to stop BM> the fight, I ran to the back yard and got the tire, ran back and BM> started whapping my friend's dog with the tire. Did stop the fighting BM> and no injuries to the dogs nor us kids. First, PETA perverted the Creation account in the book of Genesis...and I'll leave it at that. Second, the "if it bleeds, it leads", has always been the case with news, journalism, etc. At one time, Easter Weekend was "slow"...except for stories around the sunrise services, egg hunts, etc. I did see a blooper one time on a church sign, where it noted instead of "annual egg hunt", it noted "anal egg hunt". Gad...we're hatching @$$holes now...maybe that's where all of the politicians come from. :P BM> Now I will also admit there are outright evil goings-on which have no BM> excuse. Puppy mills for one. In some cases probably a fine line BM> between a breeder and a mill but overall a breeder is conscientious BM> while a mill.... Agreed. My late wife had always gotten her dachshunds (we only had one at a time during our marriage) from a female breeder, who was 35 years older than me to the day!! I'm sure she's dead and gone now. We went out there to get a new one 3 months after we had to have the one we had when we got married, put down, because of declining health. The dogs, male and female, "hump each other", not so much for sex, but as "a dominance move" (they think they're the dominant male or female). My wife preferred males, as even though they pee all over the place to "mark their territory", it's cheaper to neuter a male than it is to spay a bitch (female dog). Anyway, this little male "had a Viagra moment", and the look on his face was like "Daddy...I have a problem. Will you help me fix it??". My response was "Hell, no!!" . I was so embarrassed by it, but my wife, and the breeder were laughing uncontrollably. Apparently, a few years before that, the breeder told her grandson about a similar incident, and her grandson said "Oh, Grandma!!". There is this couple (husband and wife) in Maumelle, Arkansas (northwest of Little Rock), that are like many folks...their pets are "their kids". They have 5 dachshunds...4 males and 1 female. The males are named Gunnar, Baxter, Thor, and Floki...while the female is named "Torvi"...and she has become "Queen Humper". I saw on YouTube this woman who has EIGHT dachshunds (is she nuts??!!). One is named "Einstein", and another is named "Meatball" (I don't know the names of the others). Well, it's "bath day", and she tries to get all of them in the tub, where she can clean them. Meatball was having none of it, and she said "Meatball, it's time you grow some meatballs, and get your bath". He basically said "Screw you, Momma", and walked out of the bathroom!! Afterwards, she's "dancing", and they "growled" for her to "Quit dancing, dry us off!!". Then, they're rolling on their backs on the bed, and shaking themselves dry. They apparently also love going for walks, runs, and rides. There are several dachshund channels on YouTube and Facebook, but offhand, I don't remember which one I saw them on. Daryl ....
