First thing that came to mind when I read that was "no UPS?".  Here just
about all electronics is on one of the UPSs -- there are several here.  
The amplifier for the TV antenna is also on a UPS (shared with other 
devices).

I also have a few lights on UPS so when the power goes out I can see 
enough to get the flashlights.  The desklight on the Computer Desk is 
also on the UPS for the computer -- better than wandering by the glow of
the monitor!  I do try to keep all the batteries the same: easier to 
keep replacements 'in stock'.
