Subj : Rant Time To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Sun Mar 13 2022 08:33:00 Hi Daryl! BM> She used to be a werewolf-ette?! DS> I'd say the relationship is over. I'd probably have to walk away and take time to think things over. Might come to the conclusion the remainder of the relationship is worth 'overlooking' a detail. Not that the detail would be banished. BM> The good news is if they forget the contraceptive don't have to worry BM> about a little one. DS> That's true...but I would've been spooked by her response. I htink just about everybody would be! BM> I would call to have the shipping charge refunded/credited. I'm DS> The way the Post Office email worded it, it sounded like it was DS> stolen. Or misheard or misinterpreted: a term might mean one thing to one person and something different to another. ...Thinking of a message on the answering machine I received years back. Was about some pain I was having after I broke my leg: I heard it as "it's just due to the rotting". The word was "rodding", referring to the rod/implant procedure. BM> (Mmm: close! Looks to be a follow-up in tomorrow's mail.) I'm BM> thinking the police would refer you back to the Postmaster at your Post BM> Office and they do an investigation, sometimes with the Police. (That BM> based on loosely being involved.) DS> Thankfully, I didn't have to call the police. Good. BM> WAG: there might be mandatory breaks. Towards the end when I was BM> working at the store the Meal Break had to be taken no longer than 5.00 BM> hours past your clock-in time, exception was if with a customer and BM> even that was allowed only so many times. I think the Post Office is BM> unionized so they may even have that extended to the 15 minute break. BM> Or the carrier could be swapping shoes/boots: in this part of town they BM> also deliver to the individual houses; other parts have the cluster BM> boxes. DS> He admitted it was the last part of his run, but he just DS> couldn't finish it first, then take his break. Another that didn't look/seem quite right at first but had a logical explanation. BM> All of the physical carriers are understaffed currently. From 'chats' BM> with the local P.O.'s supervisors COVID took out a lot of carriers and BM> they were understaffed to begin with. Personally I would not want to BM> be walking on sidewalks, etc., in the dark (icy patches, potential BM> stuff to stumble over) even with a flashlight. Here the street is BM> dark: no streetlights. We have some yard lighting. DS> I did get the streetlight repaired recently (after 3 DS> tries)...it made for a nice view last night as 2-4 inches of DS> heavy wet snow fell here. Most of it has melted off 24 hours DS> later. Then, severe weather arrives late Monday. Someone needs to DS> get the weather calendar a Prozac. You sure you want it to 'chill out'?! We have don't any snow in the forecast; maybe the end of the month. "You want a April Fool's surprise? I'll give you an April Fool's surprise!!" - Mother Nature. BM> As for FedEx, etc., they also have their issues. DS> They've never lost a shipment for me...I can't say the same for DS> the Post Office. I don't recall them loosing a shipment but have had them cause damage. BM> Well, if becomes necessary to sell the car seems like now is a decent BM> time based on all the ads for car dealers wanting to buy and pay cash BM> for used cars. Checkout what transportation services are available for BM> seniors, disabled, etc. DS> I can get one via Lyft via Consumer Cellular...but I'll wait to DS> see what the eye exam shows next month. BM> If you need to sell your car you may need to do all that as you can no BM> longer just drive to the Post Office a couple times a week to pick up BM> your mail. DS> Even once a week via Lyft would work. I saw where Uber is DS> adding an additional surcharge, due to the high gasoline prices. Only so much of the expenses can be absorbed. ...One thing to check is how the Lyft/Uber (anyone else?) feel about packages. One thing to have a small shoebox, another a Bankers Box or larger. And will they wait for you while you're in line at the Post Office? Hauling groceries is another 'kettle of fish': way too easy to have a bag fall over and there goes all over the place! (One 'trick' I do is to tie the top closed using the handles of the plastic bag.) BM> Hopefully your phone is waiting for you at the Post Office. DS> It was...it doesn't have many accessories with it, but I'm DS> learning how to work with it. The migration of data from the DS> Verizon phone was easier than expected.
