"Oh, Lord...It's Hard To Be Humble...When You're Perfect In Every Way". I prefer "One doesn't get older...one gets better. And, I'm approaching magnificent!!" -- and I'll be another year older on Monday. But, it won't be a happy birthday...I'm having to stay here to have water damage cleaned up from a toilet that overflowed from the tank, and flooded both bathrooms. The rugs are soaked, but I can replace them. BM> Of course not! They knew to salt and other ways to preserve. ...Oh, BM> not the literal - nevermind! I guess they confused taxidermy with taxiderby...where they race to get customers, instead of preserving what they have. :P BM> I'll admit to relying a little too much on calculators: when I was BM> going through school they switched us over to "the New Math" and BM> somehow that managed to confuse me. I don't know what the differences BM> are between "Old Math" and "New Math" other than something about the BM> process; certain number combinations no longer 'clicked'. Oddly I do BM> some math tricks: $1.97 + $1.98 isn't done 'eight plus seven carry the BM> one' but 'two dollars plus two dollars is four dollars, three cents BM> plus two cents is five cents, subtract that from $4 is $3.95'. I liked the way Introduction To Math was described in Peanuts. When Charlie Brown asked his sister, Sally, if the course was hard, she replied "Not at all. You just walk in, and say 'How Do You Do, Math??'". That must have translated over to her work with measurements -- "10 grams equals one grampa". To which, her brother (Charlie Brown) replied "Keep going. I can hardly wait to see what comes next". BM> MidAmerican Energy seems to have done a pretty good job of animal- BM> proofing their substations as very rarely are they the cause of a power BM> failure. And not because of less animals, being pushed away from human BM> cities - there has been a bit of a invasion due to us humans staying BM> inside due to COVID-19. This is true. In the past, building into the great outdoors encroached on their natural habitat. Several homes had problems with deer, bear, and other wildlife. BM> Yup: I remember that. Last summer we had the derecho which broke a BM> probably 40' pine tree in the neighbour's back yard about 12' up from BM> the base, snagged a power transmission line and broke that, which blew BM> the fuse down the block somewhere. Good news is didn't damage anything BM> else other than a few good dents in the backyard. The weather damages and natural disasters are getting worse and more frequent. An earthquake in Japan triggered a tsumami warning, and a volcano in Iceland has erupted. And, we're not even into the heart of tornado season yet...plus, the National Hurricane Center will now start issuing advisories for both the Atlantic and Pacific basins on May 15. BM> Mine did post Wednesday the 17th. Nothing for mine yet. BM> My signature is bad enough with pen to paper, much less BM> mouse to pad. Hopefully you have your settlement credited before the BM> bills hit. Barely in time. I had to fork out $250 to fix a deal in the toilet tank in what was my parents bathroom. It glitched, and the tank overflowed, flooding both bathrooms. At least the water line insurance will cover the cleanup of water damage. The rugs are soaked and will be disposed of...if my check ever arrives, I can get replacement ones. I noted that Arkansas extended the tax filing deadline to May 17, coincident with the federal postponement, so that gives me some more breathing room. BM> Have to be sober to figure out some of those calls! See the tagline below. Daryl ....
