Subj : Weather Was: Day In ER To : Barry Martin From : Daryl Stout Date : Fri Feb 26 2021 16:14:00 Barry, BM> Whoa! _1ø??!!! That's like Hell freezing over for you guys in th BM> South!! Was in the mid-40's here yesterday and outside shovelling. BM> No, hadn't snowed; just cleaning up, chipping away ice, etc. It has been colder...I think Little Rock's all time low was -12...and one place in north Arkansas got down to -25 years ago. BM> But then something else much worse could have occurred like your brakes BM> failing. Well, as I noted in a previous message, the exchanged car may have been a lemon. Unfortunately, pre-owned cars are sold AS IS -- NO WARRANTY. They have found more things wrong with it, and I've got to pay $4000 to get it fixed. That's on top of the $9950 I paid for the car, $400 for Uber, and $730 for the tags. If I had known then what I know now...after the wreck, I would've cancelled the car insurance after I got the settlement, NEVER would've gone and bought a pre-owned car, had groceries and medications delivered, and just taken Uber out once a week. Then, I likely would've changed my drivers license to just a state ID. That would've killed any and all social life and travel. It'll be my luck that Geico won't offer me much, and I'll have to take them to court. Then, the attorneys will take 50% of that, and it'll drag out. Then, I'll have to pay taxes on the insurance money after my Mom's death. Since I was Power Of Attorney, it went to me (my brother wanted nothing to do with it)...so I'll be stuck with it, and my brother will get off scot free. I feel like I'm cursed. I've had to cancel so many trips, etc., and I'm sick and tired that everyone else is benefitting, and I'm getting screwed. I may end up going into bankruptcy again. BM> When I'm doing my errands I don't have to be concerned about the time BM> as the stuff takes time. I'll do "dr's appointment then shopping" but BM> not "shopping then dr's appointment" as the shopping it too variable BM> and can't guarantee I''ll be done in time. Plus, if you're more than 10 minutes late, you have to reschedule, and pay a heft no-show fee. BM> Of course lots of variables like travel path. For me the shopping I'm BM> thinking of is located on a route to the doctor's office: I could drive BM> one route to do shopping-doctor but another to do doctor-shopping. For BM> me one big circle. You might not have the 'big circle' travel option. Especially if I end up losing the exchanged car. I doubt they'll buy it back from me. I have to get the title from the state for the Volvo (after paying $730 in taxes), to take back to the dealership, before I can take the Chevy back...but I doubt I could get a refund...as all used cars are sold AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY. And, it was to take 2 months to get the title. BM> "So here I was, waiting for the net at 7 o'clock. Had a nice dinner, BM> the day's chores are done. .... Oh poo! It's 0700 UTC, not 7 CTZ!!" It's a a toss-up between who operates on local time, or UTC. Daryl .... If I got the wrong number, why did you answer the phone? === MultiMail/Win v0.52 --- SBBSecho 3.13-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS - tbolt.synchro.net (454:1/33) .
