Subj : Daryl To : All From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Jan 11 2021 11:15:00 I received an e-mail from Daryl Stout saying he was invloved in a multi- vehicle crash last week - he's OK -- with aches and minor injuries -- and the others involved are also not too seriously injured. His car is totaled -- so yet another expense. His e-mail follows: Quick Summary of Jan. 7, 2021 Multi-Vehicle Wreck that I was involved in: The photos named Jan 7 2021 Wreck (A-E), are damage photos from my car, that was involved in a multi-vehicle wreck (besides mine, another car, plus a pickup truck hauling a trailer). I basically was rear-ended on the right rear of the car (photos A and B) by the a vehicle, causing my vehicle to spin out of control on the wet pavement. I crossed the center line, and was hit by a second vehicle. The vehicle that hit me careenef into a utility pole, after hitting another vehicle head on. My goal after the initial shock was to get the car off the road before I got hit again. My airbags did not deploy, but they did in the other vehicles. With my legs shaking violently, I got out of the car, got my walker to steady myself, and got the cellphone to call 911. Unfortunately, with the weather (it was light rain at the time, and the roads were wet), the cellphone networks may have been overloaded, as I got dropped. I got called back, and I told them what had just happened. They said that they had personnel on the way. A squadron chief from the fire department, 2 police cars, and 2 ambulances responded. I was not charged in the wreck, as I got rear ended, then hit by another vehicle. The vehicles involved were mine, a pickup truck hauling a trailer, and another vehicle. The driver that rear-ended me was cited for negligence, as it started the chain reaction wreck. At least one individual was ambulatory to a local hospital for treatment...but there were no fatalities in the wreck. I ended up going to a chiropractic clinic, who works with the insurance company of the driver who was charged in the wreck (it wasn't me), for chiropractic treatment on Jan. 8, but I had to be transported by Uber to and from the facility. I have a follow-up on Jan. 11. My car had to be taken to Gwatney Collision Center. Unfortunately, with the car being 17 years old, and the amount of damage, it may end up being declared "a total loss". That leaves me without transportation. I didn't have a rental car deal on my policy due to cost ($1150 a month on disability doesn't go very far). So, I'm trying to obtain a rental car, as I know I can't get a used car for under $5000. I may end up going to court to sue for damages, pain, suffering, and inconvenience. ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® .... Life gives lemons, make lemonade.
