Subj : Another Day In The ER To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Nov 16 2020 08:24:00 Hi Daryl! DS> Tell me if my arrow hit the bullseye. BM> How come all the vendors are selling apples? DS> Depends on which ones they're selling. There are red and the DS> golden delicious ones. Don't forget the green and crab! BM> Right. IMO one should be true to their significant other (we'll use a BM> generic term to cover marriage, engagements, serious dating, etc.). DS> In some areas, it costs more to get married (taxes). Why I have DS> been searching for "proposal videos" on YouTube (especially by DS> soldiers coming home from deployment), is beyond me. The way the DS> world is going, I definitely am not worried about dating or DS> marriage. I guess I need some good news to look at. Ones viewpoint should be and needs to be balanced. IMO too much gloom and doom and that's all one thinks about and so the mental attitude skews that way as that's all it starts to know. BM> Though also quite possible to be mugged in one's own neighbourhood. DS> I'm very careful when I go out, although I normally am not out DS> after dark. Well, guess that means you're not a vampire! BM> Stay alert -- quite frankly the listening headphone/ear buds blocking BM> out external sounds is a little dangerous IMO. I don't carry all my BM> credit cards in my wallet: wallet gets stolen, I've got others at home. DS> I rarely turn the radio on in the car...so, I can hear the DS> sirens of emergency vehicles, or the horns of approaching trains. I always have the radio on but it's relatively low: louder than background level but not so loud I can't hear things going on outside. And the volume gets turned down or muted if something is going on out there. BM> Oh no! I have a bit of a joke about Friday the 13th and Thursday the BM> 12th which is probably when you took your car in. As far as driving BM> with a bad power-anything pump. probably not a good idea and yes I'd BM> leave it in the shop. DS> Actually, I noticed the problem on Monday morning, on the way DS> back from the podiastrist. But, they couldn't take the car until DS> Tuesday morning. "Gaa! Monday the 9th!" ...Too much of a mental stretch for the joke. BM> And the various levels of COVID-19 restrictions aren't helping the BM> various-sized brick-and-mortar stores any, and helped the on-line BM> options. Any brick-and-mortar probably would have had to quickly BM> expand or create a pick-up or delivery option to keep in business. DS> That they've done. But, I prefer to handle my own items. (I was waiting of one of your 'dirty mind' jokes!) I don't think when shopping I have too much of an issue with other people handling the items, as long as properly. (The more I type the worse things get with the sub-thought of the 'dirt mind' expectation!!) I've helped, been asked to help, strangers at the grocery store and they don't seem to have any qualms. Short lady needed an item off the top shelf; no issues with my touching the bottle and then handing it to her. OTOH I probbaly look clean and presentable to her standards (and to mine). DS> I don't get any gifts at the stores. I really don't have any DS> family or friends to buy for...and I'd prefer to buy a gift card. DS> That way, they buy what they want. We do a combination of gift, gift card, and sometimes money. All of do some degree of gardening so gift cards to Lowe's, Home Depot or Menards work better than trying to wrap a bag of mulch. BM> I'm thinking most of the cast have died -- show's older that I'd think. BM> Not sure if it's on currently -- meaning syndicated OTA. Right now to BM> much other stuff to watch and do but I was a fan. DS> You can catch a lot of those in syndication, or on DVD. Yes, though there are quite a bit of trimming going on to fit in those additional commercials, sometimes removing a setup which makes a later scene more understandable. ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
