Subj : Re: Another Day In The ER To : Barry Martin From : Daryl Stout Date : Sat Oct 31 2020 10:38:00 Barry, BM> Yes, there is frequently a fine line between some medical conditions BM> and 'just a bit of gas' or 'a pulled muscle'. Again, I'd rather be safe than sorry. BM> Plus when healthy establishes a base line. I don't want any medical surprises. BM> Yes, all sorts of potential hazards when driving, more when the BM> conditions aren't that great. Folks around here think they can stop just as fast on a wet, snowy, or icy pavement, as they can on dry. They likely got their drivers license or CDL out of a Cracker Jack Box. DS> to see the doctor...the nurse replies "He's cured. The doctor DS> just showed him the bill". BM> In Psychiatry that's called shock Therapy! You better believe it!! BM> Get a supplemental plan? I've got the "G" version. And while at it BM> get a prescription plan. Might be best to consult with someone BM> knowledgeable -- here one of the local hospital groups has advisors BM> which are trained -- I don't know how well or if biased; I went though BM> my financial advisor the other day. ...He is slightly biased as he/his BM> company is not a member of certain plan offerings but they were more BM> expensive and offered less anyway. I have a good prescription drug plan, plus Part A and B Medicare, but NOT Medicaid. DS> "Swing your YANG YANG YANG!!" BM> What kind of a perverted place are you affiliated with?! You ship your BM> newsletter out in a plain brown wrapper?! Square Dancers Do It On The Floor, In Groups Of Eight, With No Sex, In All Positions...and you can take that however you want. BM> Probably. And other subtle ways: freebie handouts such as notepads BM> with the drug d'jour imprinted, pens with the drug name on it, etc. Exactly. BM> Takes money to make money! That's what the counterfeiters said. BM> I'm thinking of all the polital ads lately: on local news seems there's BM> more air time to the political ads than the news itself. And the paper BM> recylcing bin has been fuller than usual from the print ads. (Print BM> shops must love election time!) Political Season -- does that mean we can shoot them??!! BM> Plus 'big pharma' is doing most of the research and development, which BM> costs lots and lots of money, and the generic versions get to ride the BM> coattails. Yeah, but $3 or likely much more for one Viagra pill?? BM> I do think they also create some of their own business: several years BM> back the average blood pressure numbers went from (IIRC) 130/80 to BM> 110/70. Mine has been pretty close to 120/80 for literally decades, so BM> all of a sudden I went from average to boarderline hypertensive? I BM> don't think so! Dropping to 110 and I'd probably drop from BM> hypotension! If I had to start on Lasix, I'd have to switch to Amlodipine, as the Lasix and the Metropolol would lower the blood pressure too much. BM> Why do I hear "and away go troubles down the drain, Roto-Rooter! Roto- BM> Rooter!". I have a door on the BBS...Toilet Stall Graffitti Wall. It's 200 flushes in ANSI...with "ANSI Rooter, that's the name...just flush your graphics down the drain". BM> My reaction isn't quite that urgent. I think it was about 45 minutes BM> after I took the Suprep I started humming the Chiquita Banana Song BM> ("I'm Chaquita Banana and I'm here to say, sit on the toilet and bombs BM> away!"). ROFLMBO!! And, your butt probably felt like it was on fire. DS> Or, as comedian Jeff Foxworthy noted, "At which point, my DS> underwear tapped me on the shoulder, and said RUN!!" BM> Admittedly one should not dilly-dally! I have a PDF file on the BBS, "Colonoscopy For Dummies"...and it hits hard that "once you take the purgative, you may not have time to get any other tasks done". BM> Early when meth-making started 'becoming popular' there were numerous BM> instances of tapping in to anhydrous ammonia tanks on farms (for BM> fertilizer) to get one of the ingredients. There's no mistaking the smell of it...it's nasty. DS> legally prescribed, they couldn't touch me. BM> Except your boott-ee! My late mother-in-law said "You get to show your butt, and get it rubbed". Or like the sign I saw at a BBQ restaurant "I like my butt rubbed, and my pork pulled". BM> Yes - I'm having a follow-up colonoscopy in a year because they found BM> two benign polyps. Better safe than sorry! Exactly. The day after the procedure, I go out and treat myself to a big meal. BM> Maybe she meant via a gastric tube versus just pouring in in. Wonder BM> if cold or if at least cool water would make it taste not as bad? I BM> prefer the taste of cool/refrigerated/iced water to that of from the BM> tap. Same water, just the temperature is different. Probably so...but it was still nasty. The citrate of magnesia (or any of that) is best chilled...then washed down with a big thing of water. BM> I'd guess the 85 y.o. was thinking "out of sight, out of mind", or just BM> never got around to it, though as waited until 85 why now? When I was in the hospital for another deal years ago, apparently there was a woman who needed to have a colonoscopy done, but she would not do the prep work (never mind she'd eat when told not to). I know of nobody who enjoys prepping for a colonoscopy (unless they're sadists or are masochists)...but the prep work is the worst part of it. BM> Mine merely suggesed Vaseline to soothe any irritation. Suppose if the BM> Tucks has some sort of anesthetic properties. I also make sure I have plenty of "bun wad". BM> The dancing girls' legs are those giant polyps!! Poo-Lips?? :P BM> ... One dose of diuretic goes pee, double does go pee-pee? I felt like that after the bladder stones were removed last February. They gave me a huge Lasix tablet, and 10 pitchers of ice water. I was filling up the urinal bottles every 5 minutes...so, the nurses finally brought several. I had considered just staying on the toilet, as it was like I had an activated fire hose instead of my [censored]. :P Daryl ....
