Subj : piano, LPs, Clive Cussler To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Fri Oct 02 2020 07:49:00 Hi Daryl! BM> I'll still say it's just luck as have seen pictures of FedEx planes BM> which have crashed, their trucks havign caught fire, etc. OTOH so have BM> other delivery companies. Must also note some people just never have BM> any luck with a specific business while others have great luck. DS> That's me...UPS and the Postal Service have given me trouble DS> with shipments, but FedEx (so far) has gotten stuff there when DS> promised. Now, if weather was an issue, I could understand a DS> delay in shipping. I'd be sticking with FedEx then. ...What happens if you as the shipper has great luck with them but the recipient has had horrible luck??!! DS> Unfortunately, if the addressee is at a Post Office Box, you DS> have no choice but to send it via the Post Office...as FedEx, DS> UPS, and DHL, will NOT deliver to Post Office Boxes. BM> Though you and few other people have gotten around it by delivery to BM> the Post Office building's address, Unit # whatever the PO Box is. :) DS> Yet, some places will still require a residence, and not a DS> business. This brings "The Glitter Bomb" to mind (search for that DS> on YouTube). I did a quick on-line search and it seemed more logical to ship _to_ a Post Office address than a residential, much less not: docking facilities, clustering (several drop-offs in the same area as opposed to residential being scattered). As for the Glitter Bomb, saw Parts I and II earlier this year and :). Also had seem some of it on a TV show and was disappointed in that presentation. Was from the same as on YouTube, just made highly bland: the glitter part was barely tossed as opposed to throughout the room, the Fart Spray portion was more like hallitosis.... BM> Yes, I've seen that picture too; don't know if it's real but it is BM> kinda funny! DS> Things can be photoshopped. Say it isn't so!! BM> Have had problem with the Post Office: the occasional piece of missing BM> mail. Can't think of a package issue right now but probably (and a lot BM> of damages were more due to the shipper using flimsy containers than a BM> 'Postal Elephant' sitting on them). DS> At least UPS or FedEx packs the stuff for you...but, you have DS> to pay for the container and the labor. Is some instances it would be worth it. BM> Probably more old address lists. My Mother still gets the occasionally BM> mail addressed to my Father and he's been dead for ten years. A friend BM> of mine still gets mail addressed to his parents and an aunt and BM> they've been gone for a long time also. DS> I've got to contact the DO NOT CALL registry to get my DS> cellphones on it. I'm being slammed by these robocalls. Mine has received a few what are probably from political campaigns are IIRC those are excluded from the registry. ...I've sometimes wondered if being on the list _increases_ the calls? If the call originates from outside the U.S. I don't think they're subject to our laws, and here's a nice list of people! DS> ... What do you mean, QWK?? It took me over an hour to read!! Wasn't the reading that took so long but the replying! ¯ BarryMartin3@ ® ¯ @MyMetronet.NET ® ....
