Subj : Postings, Seasons, Etc. To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Thu Jun 25 2020 19:29:00 Hi Daryl! DS> I hate copying and pasting certain items, as they have these DS> high ascii characters, and I have to change them...usually the DS> quotation marks. BM> That makes ›! ...Oo! Better! That makes › to a ø!! DS> While it showed up as intended in MultiMail, it didn't in DS> Notepad. So much for Microsoft! BM> There are times when the time seems to fly and there are times when it BM> crawls, so maybe she was right! DS> Or like the song with Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet DS> (Margaritaville)... "It's 5:00 Somewhere". I wonder if Blake Shelton wishes he had been in on that one?! BM> DS> I guess they want virtual spankings now. :P BM> That's old! I think the old Batman TV show had "Slap!", "Bam!" etc. DS> They did. Now, they'd class that as too violent. Figures. I'm not for violence but there are times when it seems to be needed. ...Of course most of the time it escalates because people don't know when to stop. BM> I'm thinking they forgot a plus sign and a parens pair properly placed. BM> (I was more into the Marx Brothers.) DS> There was a guy years ago, who is the only person approved by DS> the late comedian's estate, to re-enact him. The show was called DS> "An Evening With Groucho"...and you thought Groucho Marx had come DS> back from the dead!! DS> On opening night, there was a bald headed guy in the front row, DS> and Groucho said "I'm Groucho Marx"...then rubbing the head of DS> the bald man, said "This is Karl Marx. Sorry about the DS> Revolution, Old Man". Y'mean they're not related?! DS> My late father and I went to see it, and my Dad wanted a seat DS> in the front row. I said "If we get that, he'll razz us all DS> night". So, we were a little further back. Plus you don't get crick-neck from staring up to the stage all evening! DS> Anyway, Groucho was doing the song about Lydia, the Tattooed DS> Lady. There was a heavy set female in the front row, laughing DS> uncontrollably (probably about to pee her pants). When Groucho DS> got done, her asked her what her name was. When she said "Lydia", DS> it brought the house down in laughter, and Groucho nearly fell DS> off the stage!! That worked out!! :) BM> Yes, regionally at least one of the colleges is starting a little BM> earlier than normal so can start Christmas break early -- something to BM> do with not having the student body come back for a few days between BM> Christmas and New Year's. DS> Some will be in person, some will be online, and others will be DS> "mixed up" (sounds like an oxymoron ). I'm glad I'm not a student now and have to guess the future. If I had more than a summer job position I'd probably check about being able to stay on and work until next year. BM> I had also read where colleges and universities were saying they were BM> going to re-open in the Fall in order to have students commit to BM> attending classes; the schools are afraid if they say classes may or BM> may not be done in-person then too many students might decided to take BM> a year off, further decreasing income from tuition. DS> I am so glad I went through college when I did 40 years ago. I DS> could not afford it today. I think being 60 now, I could attend DS> for free, if I wanted, but I have no desire to go back to school. I'm also in the category and have half-thought of taking a class or two too, probably something to do with computers just to help me understand the inner workings better, but then some 'crisis' comes up -- usualy with the computers -- and I need to spend the time fixing that, and the resolution is probably more in Python 401. BM> Actually the outer space 'creatures' with their eyes on the end of BM> flexible stalks might have it right: swivel one or both to where one BM> needs to check. DS> Falling on ones butt, and possibly breaking their tailbone, is DS> not fun. As the French say, "sacrum bleu"! BM> I was thinking 'soup' for casserole and sliced up lunch meat in soup BM> didn't sound all that appetizing! DS> Well, I've still got some TV dinners, chicken nuggets, ice DS> cream sandwiches, and flavored water...so I can wait until July DS> to go grocery shopping again. ....Might be good timing: hit the 4th of July picnic/grilling sales. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
