Subj : Resend cell service To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Tue Jun 23 2020 17:29:00 Hi Nancy! BM> Or not: travelling I sort of like 'local fare' because can't have here BM> at home. Might have essentially the same menu as the national chains BM> but they would have their own twist, or at least the place looks BM> different. NB> It depends, for us... a dependable chain might appeal on some NB> trips, checking out local fare might for other trips... And we NB> don't tend to make stops along the way, only at end points (or NB> mid points)... Yes, sometimes one just has a hankerin' for a specific meal and 'not in the mood' for experimenting with another. BM> Pretty much the same here: no dining room meals but could eat outside, BM> with social distancing. Signage stating curbside, delivery, and the BM> like had popped up up to remind people of that option; lots did free BM> delivery as an additional incentive. NB> As of just over a week ago, restaurants here have been allowed to NB> have eat-in, with reduced capacity to allow social distancing... Update: Restaurants in Iowa are being allowed 50% capacity for dine-in and starting this Friday Illinois at 25%. NB> We were all set today to go back to our favorite Korean place, NB> turns out the newly arriving OPEN signs are only for takeout NB> (online or mobile orders only), and they weren't at all open when NB> we pulled into the lot... So we went driving around the area, to NB> check on our other favorite spots... and mostly found the same NB> thing elsewhere, too... As it was about noon, it was way too NB> early to go to Taste of Japan (opening at 3) although they are NB> open for eat-in now... We ended up at Abyssinia (Ethiopian)... NB> they were courageous enough to be actually open... ;) I need to know world history better: missed your set-up for a response of "if us Ethiopians made it theough we can make it through this!" As for around here, it seems the restaurants have been fairly careful about not putting on their "Open" signage without a largish sign (some are handmade) to state take-out, etc., only. Not trying to say your sites were sloppy, just maybe the local restaurtant associates, chamber of commerce, etc., emphasized things a hare differently. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
