Subj : And More Various Things To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Fri Jun 19 2020 09:21:00 Hi Daryl! BM> Are we going to the dogs?! BM> Nah: they're coming here! DS> After a good report from the hernia surgeon, I went to visit DS> some friends and their dachshund...who was elated to see me...for DS> all of 2 minutes. But, I had to cut the visit short, when I DS> got a call from ADT of an alarm event at the house. It DS> figures...I got caught in traffic, and every red light from their DS> house to mine. I waited for the police to arrive, and inspect the DS> place. Thankfully, no "entry", but the sensor on the garage DS> window got tripped somehow. I'll make sure it's LOCKED before I DS> go out next time. Nothing like a little excitement for your dull life! Glad no entry/nothing taken. A few years before I retired was waiting in the parking lot for the 'opener' to arrive. She gets there, we have to wait a little longer because there's a certain time when the automatic delay kicks in (else a door trip, etc., will set the alarm off immediately, not giving time to call in the access code). So we're waiting, the alarm goes off, no one near the door - we're still gathered in the lot. A short while later hear the phone ring (a certain telephone line rings in the speaker system) -- know is the alarm company but not going in to answer because we don't know where the alarm trip occurred. Few minutes later the Police arrive (alarm company can tell which sensor tripped: location and type). I don't recall how found out as none of us were going into the building until cleared but were told the motion sensor in Hardware was tripped, but the one north of the cash registers, the one 'for' the cash registers was showing no movement. Where the motion was being reported there's nothing worth stealing, certainly nothing where the person would be just staying in one spot like if in the circle of registers. Police go in, we stay outside and away. Police find the culprit: a bunch of balloons tied to a lawn mower display!! The HVAC had turned on shortly before we were scheduled to go in and the air movement was blowing the balloons, setting off the motion detector!! BM> (And how did I leave "their" in there? Should have been "they're".) DS> You need a second set of eyes when you do documents...or DS> compose REPlies. But I put my reading glasses on -- my second eyeballs. Didn't help! BM> Should be "next year I'll ketchup"! DS> Good comeback. BM> I'll take the compliment with relish! DS> You can have mine...and I'm sure you'll relish that. :P 'Relish' has already been used.... I can't think of anything that would make sense. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® .... I'm gratified to be able to answer promptly. I said I don't know. -Twain --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.47 þ wcECHO 4.2 ÷ ILink: The Safe BBS þ Bettendorf, IA --- QScan/PCB v1.20a / 01-0462 * Origin: ILink: CFBBS | cfbbs.no-ip.com | 856-933-7096 (454:1/1) .
