Subj : Stimulus And Potholes To : Daryl Stout From : Barry Martin Date : Fri Jun 12 2020 09:56:00 Hi Daryl! BM> Pay 'em the Windows 10 32-bit too! DS> Well, I'll use that DVD as a backup, in case I have to DS> reinstall the OS on my late Mom's computer, where the BBS is now. Always a good idea to have backups of various sorts. BM> LIS in other messaging, we're all thinking the 32-bit OS should have BM> been able to be installed on the 64-bit CPU/motherboard. From what I BM> found (and forwarded) was the hard drive needed to be completely wiped: BM> apparently a hidden partition. In one way too bad returned the BM> computer as could have tried a complete wipe or a slight cheat and BM> disconnect the original hard drive and install a fresh/blank one. DS> They tried that from a fresh system, and apparently a quirk in DS> the hardware prevented it. Ky posted he thought something in the BIOS needed setting/unsetting. I gave you a link to Microsoft on how to install 32-bit on a 64-bit system, and it also indicated a complete hard drive wipe was required: apparently a hidden file or partition. Could also have gone inside, installed a brand new hard drive, disconnected the original, and see what happened. If the 32-bit OS then installed, great! If not, you didn't screw up the original drive and could swap the connections back. BM> The roofers are here currently - and right above my head! Sounds like BM> a combination hail storm, parade and -- something else really BM> basey-noisy! (Know I know what ants go through when we walk in the BM> yard!) DS> I remember the episode of The Flintstones, where Fred and DS> Barney are hunting a Snorkasaurus (who became Dino). Betty and DS> Wilma are to have a picnic, when you start hearing this constant, DS> rhythmic, bouncing, which is getting louder by the second. It's a DS> whole slew of ants coming to raid the food, and the background DS> music is the theme from "Bridge On The River Kwai". That's one old cartoon I wouldn't mind rewatching. Know they're on I think MeTV network, just more than enough other stuff to do and watch. BM> As for your car -- hopefully a quick and inexpensive repair. A while BM> ago I though my car needed a new battery -- was a faulty door lock BM> module draining. DS> I can't drive for at least another week...so it'll be late June DS> before I can take it in for service. Too bad can't get the car there: the mechanics sometimes like it when there's no rush. DS> ... Don't raise the bar!! It's too hard to get the drinks!! Belly up? ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
