Subj : Update from Daryl To : All From : Barry Martin Date : Fri May 08 2020 19:02:00 Update from Daryl: Subject: BBS Update After another round of severe thunderstorms with intense lightning, I decided to see if the new UPS units would work this morning, after the weather quieted down. The replacement unit on my late Mom's computer works (although I haven't worked with her computer yet), and the one with the Lenovo Laptop works, and the replacement UPS which will go to the BBS computer works. The extra UPS is still boxed up as a backup. However, the BBS computer will not power up at all...my guess is the power supply is shot. So, this morning, I took it into an area PC Repair Business...but I think I'm going to get an entire hardware upgrade, and have them put Windows 10 32-bit on it. I can restore all the other data, and rebuild the registry, once I get it back up and running. I dropped off the portable USB drive with the backup data on it, so nothing from the BBS is here right now. I don't know how long it'll take to get the items, or to build it (they're supposed to call with a quote today or Monday)...but told them that while it is "needed", it wasn't "critical" (super rush job). Besides, I don't know how busy they are right now, with COVID-19 restrictions still around...although Arkansas is slowly lifting things, and the city of Little Rock modified the overnight curfew to be from 12 midnight to 5am, instead of 9pm to 5am. Then, I have to take the time to install all the utilities. We're still in a stormy weather pattern, so I don't know when I'll get things back up. I'm hoping for early June, but I'm not optimistic...especially for all the bad luck I've had with the system lately...so it may end up being July.
