Subj : Emerg. Broadcast Stations To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Fri May 08 2020 09:32:00 Hi Nancy! BM>> Those mysterious magic spells! NB>> Exactly. :) BM> All goes back to what is needed. Here I (try to!) look up stuff to BM> figure out why something isn't working. Sometimes I don't know the BM> correct term, sometimes I do but other might not so Google (and BM> probably the other search engines) try to help by guessing and BM> including those. NB> And if it guesses intelligently, yes, it might end up helpful... ;) NB> Richard uses Duck, Duck, GO usually... has better results with that... BM> I should try DuckDuckGo again -- admittedly one of those deals where BM> I'm comfortable with Google, most of the time it gives what I'm looking BM> for and when it doesn't more of an issue where I don't have the right BM> or enough information. Thinking of when I was trying to find where my BM> Aunt was at the Kurhaus. NB> Dunno... I don't generally do searches at all... and I'm sure NB> that one tends to be most comfortable with what one usuall NB> uses... Oddly yes : one tends to use what one is comfortable with, so here Google and I have trained each other. For some searched Google is probably best while for others a different search engine would be better. usually by the time I realize I maybe should try another search engine I'm tired/frustrasted/need a break, etc. and eventualy either try something different (ask a question, for example) or decide it wans't that important. Though usually is find the answer in a different way. BM>>>> Make sure have working batteries..... NB>>>> You've already been working on that... :) BM>>> Now if the Sun would shine.... Overcast today with a 50-50 chance of BM>>> rain, maybe a thunderstorm tomorrow is Easter Sunday and 80% chance of BM>>> rain. Monday might snow but probably not acumulate..... NB>>> We've had similar weather off and on... this morning there was snow NB>>> on the ground, and it's still quite chilly (high to be around 40)... NB>>> but at least the sun is shining brightly in through my window at the NB>>> moment... :) BM>> Most of yesterday was coolish in the 50's and low 60's and then early BM>> evening was 76ø! They're talking about upper 80's and maybe low 90's BM>> the middle of next week. A little too early for that but I'll enjoy BM>> it! NB>> Thankfully we've not been getting 80s or 90s... high 70s is fine NB>> enough for me.... ;) BM> It's supposed to get into the low 70's today (May 1) and possibly low BM> 80's tomorrow. Then cooler and more normal next week. Planning on BM> doing some yard work today as have Autumn tomorrow. NB> Hope you got things accomplished... ;) We're back to freeze NB> warnings almost every night this week... and I did hear thunder NB> this afternoon... I'm not recalling but seems sufficient done to be satisfied. Tomorrow morning (the Saturday before Mother's Day) the predicted low is now 30ø (one degree lower than yesterday's forecast). Right now looks nice and sunny and inviting out there: 44ø with 10 MPH winds + whatever the gusts are. Not quite as inviting! NB>>>>> Surprise, surprise.... ;) Once there were any stations, every NB>>>>> locality would want their own.... and then there would be more than NB>>>>> one, competing with different formats.... BM>>>> Yup, or even same/similar formats: "I can do it better!". NB>>>> Probably a slight variation on the original formats, though... NB>>>> One is Top 40, another is Top 40 plus the 10 below them.... BM>>> "All Brahms, all the time! This is WZZZ!" NB>>> That's not quite fair...! Most of Brahms's music is lively... :) NB>>> Take for instance his Hungarian Rhapsodies... or the Academic Overture, NB>>> or, for that matter, the fast movements of his symphonies... :) And NB>>> so forth... ;) BM>> Those are played on WEEE!! NB>> Yeah, right... ;) BM> No?! ...Wonder if they play _The Flight of the Bumblebee_ on BM> WBZ?! (I know it for Channel 4, WBZ-FM is sports radio format, WBZ-AM BM> is talk radio.) NB> They could steal it to play under their station IDs... ;) Wonder if they've thought about it? NB> ... I am a mental tourist, My mind wanders! Heck, my mind sometimes wanders so far it needs a passport! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
