A thank you for the offerings.  I had suggested an external hard drive 
and he mentioned not having room on his USB hub, plus a problem with the
data on a 32-bit backup and his system is 64-bit.  Last messaging last 
night was a few Google hits on how to turn on NTVDM in Windows (10).
