Subj : Isolation Diary To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Mon Apr 20 2020 10:35:00 Hi Nancy! > This morning they announced on the news the social distancing would > probably be extended until April 30th. BM>> This morning's news stated Governor Pritzger (Illinois) has extended BM>> the executive stay-at-home order until the end of April. I expect BM>> Governor Reynolds (here in Iowa) will shortly. NB>> Our governor (NY) has done the same, and extended the state of NB>> emergency to May 7th... Still social distancing, restaurants and NB>> other gathering spots closed, stay home except for essentials... BM> And here in Iowa pretty all the closures have been extended to the end BM> of April. We are one of the few states without a stay-at-home order BM> but highly advised, plus with everything closed nowhere to go anyway. NB> Quite true.... and the date's been extended here to middle of May NB> now... Either the date hasn't been extended yet or I'm not recalling it has been extended. While a bit of a nuisance to extend I'm thinking it is better for the long term result: less illness, less disruption in the future. As far as schools I'm thinking would be less confusing to finish the school year at home: continue with the new normal; take thesummer break, start the new school year back in the classroom. NB>> This too shall pass.... eventually...... ;) BM> Agree. Right now sitting on the issue it looks bad. Is bad, I'm not BM> trying to minimize, but things have been bad before and get better. NB> Very true.... and here, at least the rate of increase is NB> dropping... fewer deaths per day, fewer new cases per day.... and NB> lots of recoveries, even of some of the more severe cases.... NB> So, even though not at all good, things are looking like there's NB> hope eventually.. :) Yes. There have been some spikes; one county simply because they got test kits and so were able to confirm COVID-19 cases. In general things are leveling back to zero, though I'm anticipating a bit of 'ringing' as people get less cautious, causing the infections to rise a bit, causing people to go back to being cautious which will decrease the infection count.... BM> Stay positive -- as in attitude! NB> Yup... Definitely don't want to test positive, though... No! ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
