Subj : Minced Garlic To : Nancy Backus From : Barry Martin Date : Thu Apr 09 2020 08:12:00 Hi Nancy! BM>>> Yes. :) Then back to knowing where just about everything is and BM>>> ho-hum pushing the cart! NB>>> I suspect that will be enjoyable, at least for a while.... ;) BM>> Then will start the micro hide and seek: now is the macro hide and BM>> seek as everything is being moved; later will be the minor tweaks as BM>> products expand and contract due to availability, older flavours get BM>> phased out, new ones get included, etc., etc. NB>> The more usual needing to look for things.... ;) BM> True. LIS in an earlier message some of the new locations I'm hoping BM> are still temporary: they just don't seem to mesh properly. And I'll BM> admit part of that thinking is remembering the old, on purpose not BM> remembering the current because it has been changing with the remodel, BM> and runs on/lack of getting in merchandise with the COVID-19. We'll BM> get back to normal soon enough. NB> Indeed. Once things settle, you can put a little more effort NB> into remembering where things have landed.... :) And maybe NB> they'll make a little better sense and mesh better eventually... NB> :) Agree -- I wasn't going to make too much effort memorizing where an item had been moved to this week that might be moved again next week. And some of my landmarks are being changed, so again another variable. Another little issue is low stock: combination of those shoppers panicking and stocking up -- not only toilet paper but macaroni and cheese, tuna fish..... -- plus low supplies from the manufacturer so unable to fill shelves. I'd also guess the spike in on-line grocery shopping is contributing to low shelf stock: originally 'my' store did 2-3 on-line orders Thursday mornings, last week did over 200. Those who normally would be restocking ar efilling orders. (Hy-Vee has hired people.) BM>> Also appears the refrigeratored section is being replaced by sections BM>> with gless doors. Old was open shelves so the cool would escape; new BM>> the doors will hold the cool in. NB>> Our store has some of each.... frozen is almost all the glass doors... NB>> with the extra precautions for the coronavirus, there's lots of NB>> handles to keep wiping down... :) BM> Frozen had been all glass and is being upgraded with new fixtures. BM> Looks like refrigerated will be mostly if not all glass too. The BM> general frozen/refrigerated/dairy sections have been in process of BM> being switched over the last few weeks; they had emptied part of the BM> side wall of diary (sour cream, cottage cheese, dips), orange and other BM> juices -- not quite sure where that went. I assume some temporarily to BM> a 'foster home' on the floor as shoppers will want. NB> And maybe some of that fell prey to the scavenger hoarders... ;0 Possible! LIS last week's ad had a quart of orange juice for 99›, limit two, and they were out the morning after the ad hit. Don't know if they did get a supply in and wiped out -- presuming that's what happened. (They suspended giving rainchecks a few weeks ago.) BM>>>> Saw on TV where the next (that I know about) public shred event is at BM>>>> the Davenport Public Library: hey! look at all this new material to BM>>>> read!! NB>>>> Before or after the shred event..... BM>>> Both: some never made it to the shredder! NB>>> Ah... stuff you might have had shredded turned out to be keepable NB>>> after all... ;) BM>> Others found it interesting! NB>> Ooopps... a good reason to NOT drop things off to be shredded... BM> And I don't know if that shred event occurred or has been BM> canceled. AFAIK the area libriaries and museums are closed, though a BM> commercial for the museum in Davenport is still running which BM> indicates they're open and even have free admission on Thursday nights. BM> ...Curious Kitty did his thing: the top portion of the web page with BM> hours indicates the museum, cafe, etc., is open but the bottom panel BM> indicates closed. A little sloppy in the updating. NB> Trouble is that the ad-time had been previously purchased, and it NB> sometimes is too much trouble to pull or to revise all the NB> ads.... And I'm sure that when things first were closed down, NB> people were hoping it would be more short-term than it's turned NB> out to be.... I also supposed short-term until other arrangements figured out, though at the same time suspected a longer closure/limitations than the original April 10th announced here. ¯ ® ¯ Barry_Martin_3@ ® ¯ @Q.COM ® ¯ ® ....
