Sounds to me as though you definitely should follow through and take

Roads do need to be maintained... It's nice, though, if one can go a few
years without having construction again on a newly repaired road... :)

Did they let you have the meat loaf anyway...?  But you'd think that
they know that each persons reflux is individual... tomato sauce affects
it for some people and not for others....
